Still posting at SkineArt.com.
This week I did a lil preppy Batman and Robin action.
I started submitting to SkineArt.com cause I’m a pretentious jerk and I want everyone to know I draw in a moleskine.

Had the day off. Sat around in my underwear; drawing and listening to Jay-Z.
Remember Rainbow Bright and Strawberry Shortcake? They were on the local UHF back to back when I was a kid.
Always more of a She-Ra fan to be honest

I’ve had this idea burning in my head for a week. I really wanted to draw Batman and Meteor Man vs Superman and Blank Man. But everyone knows what those two guys looks like and time was short.
Instead I ganked the composition from a “World’s Finest” Alex Ross piece and shoved Damon Waynes and Robert Townsend in their places.
If the two coolest Black Super Heroes from the 90’s were still around as comics, I imagine they’d be drawn similar. Meteor Man’s logo is a lil updated and Blank Man bought a cape without a dish pattern on it.
For anyone who doesn’t know Meteor Man and Blank Man trailers at the links.
Not pictured; J5, Other Guy and Homeless Bill Cosby.

Check out my Star Trek T-Shirt design for CBS.
The Starfleet Athletic T Shirt is available for sale at $19 bucks… Not sure what that is in Gold Pressed Latinum though…

I could have sworn ‘Universal health Care’ meant insurance coverage for poor people but the right wing media was lying.
It’s actually a program to end US dependency on foreign oil and prescription meds by gifting all Americans with super powers. I read the transmogrification process is powered by recycled plastic bottles, too.
Just filled out my application on Friday. I voted Libertarian in the last election but Barrack doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to hold a grudge.

Not only is Geekanerd’s Top 10 list of Rogues accurate and entertaining but it features a lil Tick clip art from my sketch book.
Blogger Degan also takes a firm stand on Spider Man’s villains and calls them out as the lame rogues they are. There’s a heated discussion on the subject in the comments over there. I’m sure you’ll wanna join in.

Steve Y.B. of The Swimmers wore my South Fellini t-shirt design in this music video he made for the song Fighting Trees.
Although I appreciate the gesture; Saint Cecilia is my favorite Swimmers tune

I only managed 7 homages so I guess that leaves me a few to try out in a similar meme around Superman’s 75th, which is right around the corner.
I can’t wait to get to Electro Superman, Tim Sale’s Superman, DC One Million Superman, Red Son Superman and Chris Reeves Superman…
I don’t know if I can wait that long

This was also my first exposure to Alex Ross’ Superman. As a lil kid I was hooked on the style and even tried my hand at water colors once or twice. Unfortunately I could never give my characters the same breath of life Ross does.
This drawing is based on a splash page from the first issue just after Superman has come out of retirement to help the world deal with it’s super-human over population problems. It gave me goose bumps the first time I saw it.

There are so many Superman styles and designs I want to take a crack at still, it’s hard to decide.Today I borrowed a frame from the opening sequence of Superman: The Animated Series which was a huge influence on me growing up.
I learned to draw action watching Timm and Dini’s Superman. I love the economical use of lines and for a long time I drew that way as my ‘default’ style.

This Superman is a fresh design I did for Project Rooftop who are currently doing a Superman Homage of their own.
I’m of the opinion that Superman’s costume can’t be improved on. However, I recognize it might not translate well to every medium. That’s why my submission is specifically designed to work as a costume for the Clark Kent of television’s Smallville.
I tried to keep the uniform in the same tone and style as the other Justice League characters who have guest starred. But I borrowed the ‘S’ shield from Superman Returns and the textures from the Spider-Man movies.
Another strong influence was Thor’s suit in the Ultimates. I scrapped the Superman yellow in exchange for reflective/glowing patches of fabric like the Norse god’s chest plate. Even the suit itself absorbs and concentrates solar energy to feed Clark’s alien physiology. When he really pours it on the whole suit shines.
